Program Coordinator

STARR is looking for a passionate, experienced, natural leader with an affinity for youth development to join our team as a Program Coordinator (PC) for our BLAST (Building Leadership through Arts, Sports and Technology) programs. 

Experience & Additional Qualifications:

o Bachelors Degree required; advanced degree in related field a plus.

o Minimum 2-3 years experience in youth development/training programs. 

o Minimum 1-2 years of management experience and Staff supervision

o Passion for the work of STARR, with specific knowledge of After School and youth development.

o Excellent judgment and proven ability to problem-solve.

o Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. 

o Willing to travel frequently within the five boroughs.

o Must have car and driver’s license.


Site Coordinator

STARR is looking for a passionate, experienced, group facilitator/teaching artist with an affinity for youth development to join our team as Site Coordinator at multiple school-based sites in Brooklyn, New York. This is a part time position which requires a commitment of 15 hours per week during the after school hours (3 hours per day). 

Experience & Additional Qualifications:

o Associates Degree required and minimum 4-5 years experience working with youth.

Bachelors Degree preferred and minimum 2-3 years experience working with youth.  

o Passion for the work of STARR, with specific knowledge of leadership development.

o Supervisory experience a plus.  

o A positive role model for youth.  

o Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. 

o Energy, enthusiasm for work, patience and flexibility.


Specialist

We are looking for passionate, talented artists/educators with an affinity for

leadership development to join our team as a Specialists at multiple school-

based sites in Brooklyn, New York.

Experience & Additional Qualifications:

o Minimum 1-2 years experience working with youth. 

o Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a group setting in specialty area. 

o A commitment to teaching and providing continuity on a part time basis through the end of the school year. 

o Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively on projects and curriculum. 

o Demonstrable success as a leader in arts and education with examples of past and/or present work in specialty area. 

o Passion for the work of STARR, with specific knowledge of leadership development a plus. o Be a positive role model for youth. 

o Energetic, enthusiasm for work, patience and flexibility.


Social Worker

STARR, in collaboration with one of our partner schools, will be responsible for providing attendance outreach, counseling, and family involvement services to students with poor school attendance. STARR is looking for a passionate, experienced Social Worker with an affinity for case management to join our team as a Social Worker/Site Coordinator for the Attendance Improvement Dropout Prevention (AIDP) program based in a high school in Brooklyn, New York.

Experience & Additional Qualifications:

o Social Work Degree required, LMSW preferred. 

o 2-3 years experience working with adolescent population and/or in a group setting, school-based experience preferred. o 1-2 years post Masters degree, supervisory or management experience. 

o Passion for the work of STARR, with specific knowledge of youth development. 

o Excellent judgment and proven ability to problem-solve. 

o Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.


Office Manager

STARR is looking for a friendly, efficient, and professional individual to join our team as the Office Manager for our Executive Offices in Brooklyn, New York. Under the supervision of the Executive Team, the Office Manager is responsible for performing all administrative functions including providing clerical, administrative, payroll, HR, and bookkeeping support. The Office Manager provides support to all STARR management and field staff. 

Experience & Additional Qualifications:

o A positive attitude and professional demeanor that conveys warmth, caring, responsiveness, and a desire to help at all times. 

o Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree a plus. o At least 1-2 years of professional experience working in an administrative capacity.

o Thorough attention to detail. 

o Passion for the work of STARR, with specific knowledge of non-profits. 

o High level of proficiency with computers; ability to type 50 wpm; comfort learning new technology; 

o Telephone protocol. 

o Capable of handling multiple tasks and able to determine priorities. 

o Ability to work as part of a team. 

o Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. 

o Access to a car and having a driver’s license preferred.
