Richard has over 20 years of experience providing services to youth and families, community based organizations, state and city agencies as well as international organizations. He spent 7 years as a Researcher in Columbia University School of Social Work & Mount Sinai Medical Center, Psychiatry Department. Richard is the co-author of several published research articles in professional journals, co-author of a book chapter, and co-author on several training manuals. He brings a wealth of experience to the agency and its associates with focus on community and family work.
Maria Garcia - Chief Program Officer
As Chief Program Officer, Maria is responsible for oversight of the implementation, coordination, and supervision of all STARR programs. She guides the continued scale of the program as it expands, with an eye on quality assurance and systems development. Maria brings over 20 years of experience as a manager, trainer and educator to STARR Inc. Her expertise is in program and curriculum design, organizational change and advancing youth development. Prior to joining the STARR team, Maria served as a consultant for 7 years, providing technical assistance and facilitating trainings for schools and out-of-school time service providers. She has held a variety of leadership roles serving NYC youth including starting a new transition High School for court involved youth. Maria grew up in the Bronx and is a product of New York City public schools herself. She is passionate about working with schools and communities to affect change that will positively impact the lives of children and young people.
Robert Davis,JD
Director of Human Resources
Prior to becoming Director of Human Resources, Robert worked as a successful solo practitioner in New York and New Jersey representing clients in real estate transactions, bankruptcy court, landlord-tenant maters and civil litigation. Robert also brings over 6 years of social services experience working with community based organizations, including; Community Access, Housing Works and Institute for Community Living (ICL).
